Scope

All fields of digital preservation and the relevant research. Please refer to the section on “COMMUNITY & CONTRIBUTIONS” for privacy, rights and eligible contributors.

Editorial actions

The obligation of contributors to content is to be registered with the portal and to act as local editors/moderators for comments related to their contribution.

Ownership

Please refer to the section on “COMMUNITY & CONTRIBUTIONS”.

Versions

Original content is never modified but specific entries may be retracted from public view; however, the data files and records are preserved.

Volume and size limitations

Unlimited files per upload are allowed, but 1 GB per file is our size constraint. Higher quotas per file can be requested, but contributors are encouraged to use standard repositories for source files such as Github.

Revocation

Content not considered to fall under the scope of the repository will be removed. Please signal promptly, ideally not later than 24 hours from upload, any suspected policy violation. User access may be revoked on violation of the Terms of Use.

Withdrawal

Should the uploaded object be withdrawn at a later time, the reason for the withdrawal will be indicated on a tombstone page, which will henceforth be served in its place. Withdrawal is considered an exceptional action, which normally should be requested and fully justified by the original uploader. In any other circumstance reasonable attempts will be made to contact the original uploader to obtain consent.

Language

For textual items, English is required, although other languages may be accepted.

Licenses

Users must specify a licence for all publicly available files. Licences for closed access files may be specified in the description field.

Use and re-use of data objects

Use and re-use is subject to the licence under which the data objects were deposited.

Tracking users and statistics

PRESERVEWARE does not track, collect or retain personal information from its users, except as otherwise provided herein. In order to enhance PRESERVEWARE and monitor traffic, non-personal information such as IP addresses and cookies may be tracked and retained. PRESERVEWARE will take all reasonable measures to protect the privacy of its users and to resist service interruptions, intentional attacks, or other events that may compromise the security of the portal’s website.

Retention period

Items will be retained for the lifetime of the portal.

Functional preservation

PRESERVEWARE makes no promises of usability and comprehensibility of deposited objects over time.

Succession plans

In case of closure of the portal, all best efforts will be made to integrate all content into suitable alternative institutional and/or subject based websites.
